Soft Loft – What are modern lofts?

Soft Loft is a completely new, modern residential or commercial building, built completely from scratch, with style reminiscent of old industrial buildings.

Modern Soft Lofts are objects which can be either apartments, offices, restaurants, catering establishments or other types of utility spaces. They are characterized by high ceilings (often with mezzanines or half-floors) and large high windows, replacing even whole external walls. If they contain visible concrete elements, bricks or pipes and installations (electrical, plumbing and heating), it is intended to give the place a better climate and refer to old industrial spaces. It is supposed to provide its users with comfort while maintaining the industrial style.

Soft Loft – using modern materials in an industrial style

Windows and walls in Soft Lofts are made of new, better materials to protect against adverse weather conditions and temperatures. These solutions assume that people staying there are to feel comfortable. Soft Lofts are to be friendly to everyday life and living.

Soft Lofts are built using modern materials as opposed to Hard Lofts, which are characterized by a coarse construction. Nevertheless, their purpose is to refer to the style of old industrial buildings.

Soft Loft and Energy Efficiency

Another very important feature of Soft Loft is its energy efficiency. The architects designing these buildings are also able to eliminate the structural flaws that were committed by designers of former industrial buildings.

Moreover, in Soft Lofts, we can easily install the typical amenities referred to in modern construction. Here we mean, e.g. underground garage, gym, SPA or swimming pool. Let us imagine how difficult it would be to adapt such solutions to old historic buildings without disturbing their construction.

Developers usually build Soft Lofts in new and more expensive districts, which, unlike industrial areas, do not yet have a fully developed infrastructure. They also do not struggle with problems that concern former post-industrial areas.

A perfect example of Soft Loft is Woronicza Qbik located in Warsaw’s Mokotów district. It is an entirely new facility built in an industrial style.
